This is what I make when I crave beef! This is what I make when I crave beef!
Number of Servings: 2

    175 ml dashi stock (15:1 water:concentrate)
    2.5 tbsp soy sauce
    1.5 tbsp mirin
    1 tbsp sugar
0.5 tsp sake or rice wine vinegar
200 grams sirloin beef, sliced paper-thin
chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Serve with 1 cup cooked brown or white rice (brown is healthier, but white soaks up the sauce better :D) and sprinkle chopped green onions on top. (Green onions and rice not included in nutrition information)

Slice the onion in half and then into wedges and pull sections apart with your fingers. Meanwhile, bring dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake or vinegar to a simmer. Cook the onions in the broth until transparent, about ten minutes. Chop green onions, if you are using them, and set aside.

When the onions are cooked through, add the beef. It will cook very quickly, so be careful not to overcook (only 2-3 minutes). Divide into two portions.
