Ingredients

    Apples, fresh, 4 cup, quartered or chopped (remove)
    Cinnamon, ground, 4 tbsp (remove)
    Nutmeg, ground, 2 tbsp (remove)
    One large freezer bag

Directions

Chop apples into cubes, leave skins. Put apple chuncks and nutmeg and cinnamon in plastic bag with the juice of half a lemon. Seal bag and shake ingridients together. place bag in freezer over night. Take out of freezer and let apples thaw for 1 hour. Place contents of bag in your blender and blend on Sauces setting. You may need to pulse it to be sure all of the apple skins get ground well. Serves 8 - 1/2 cup servings.

    This was incredibly easy and came out with the texture of regular applesauce. I am so happy to have found this recipe. I have to agree about the spices though, I cut them to less than half and it was still too strong. I think next time I would do 2 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp nutmeg. - 12/13/09

    I was doubtful about this, but it totally worked! This is the PERFECT way to make applesauce when it's 105˚ outside and you don't want to use the stove. I won't put nearly as much spice in the second batch (personal preference) but this is how I'm making sauce from now on! - 7/12/09
