Number of Servings: 16


    1.5 C warm water
    2.25 tsp instant yeast
    1.5 tsp salt
    1 tsp sugar
    2.5 Tbsp oil
    2 C whole wheat flour
    1.5 C white flour


Makes 16 smallish pretzels (34 oz of dough)

Mix all the ingredients together. Form into traditional pretzel form. Let rise until doubled on a greased cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 475 degrees F. Heat a large pot of water to boiling and add 4 tsp baking soda to the water. When the pretzels have doubled, float them in the soda water for 1 minute. Remove with a slotted spatula and put back on the cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or store in an airtight container for up to a week. Yeah, right. Like that's gonna happen in my house!
