Everyone loves this creamy custard. Everyone loves this creamy custard.
Number of Servings: 16


    6 eggs
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    48 fl oz whole milk
    64 fl oz half and half
    1 tsp salt
    2 Tbsp vanilla extract


Beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy and lemon in color.
Add salt
Put 32 oz of milk and 32 oz of half and half in a heavy sauce pan. Add egg mixture.
Heat over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture coats the back of a spoon. DO NOT BOIL.
Remove from heat and add rest of milk.
Pour into ice cream maker canister. Add vanilla and the rest of the half and half, or until you reach the fill line on canister. Chill in fridge for at least an hour. Freeze as directed. When finished freezing, remove paddle, cover tightly and place in deep freeze to cure for at least 30 minutes.
