Introduction

I use instant rice on the days when I am in a hurry to make dinner. I use instant rice on the days when I am in a hurry to make dinner.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    2 Tbl butter
    6oz. diced turkey sausage (or kielbasa)
    8 oz shrimp (cooked)
    3/4 C chopped onion, celery and green pepper
    3/4 tsp minced garlic
    1 C uncooked rice (2 C uncooked instant rice can be substituted )
    2 C water or chicken broth
    Seasoning mix:
    2 small bay leaves
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp white pepper
    1/2 tsp dry mustard
    1/2 tsp ground red pepper (cayenne)
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/2 tsp thyme

Directions

Melt butter in skillet, add celery, onions and green pepper and cook 5 mins, add sausage and cook additional 10-12 mins. Stir in rice, scraping bottom of skillet, add broth, bay leaf and seasonings and stir well, bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer until rice is done. Add shrimp and simmer 3 minutes.Remove bay leaf before serving.
