Introduction

This is my favorite way to eat Brussels sprouts because it's tasty and it reminds me of a surprise anniversary trip to Seattle my husband planned (when I tried hot roasted chestnuts for the first time). This is my favorite way to eat Brussels sprouts because it's tasty and it reminds me of a surprise anniversary trip to Seattle my husband planned (when I tried hot roasted chestnuts for the first time).
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 pound fresh or thawed Brussels sprouts, cut in half (or quartered for large sprouts)
    2 tbsp oil (walnut, safflower, olive, whatever)
    4 cloves garlic, sliced or chopped
    1 large jar peeled chestnuts (about 14.8 oz)

Directions

Heat oil and sautee garlic until just brown. Add sprouts cut side down. Allow to brown (but not burn!), turning occasionally. Stir in chestnuts, cover, remove from heat and allow to sit until chestnuts are warmed through. Be careful not to stir too much or chestnuts will break up.
