Introduction

A side dish. A side dish.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

3 cup Swanson Chicken Broth 33% Less Sodium
    1.5 cup Mahatma Brown Rice

Tips

I am a vegetarian without a lot of money. Currently, Walmart sells it's Swanson 33 % less sodium chicken and vegetable broth at the same price. When I started making this recipe, the chicken was less so I opted for that. You can certainly make it with vegetable broth, and I will probably recalculate this recipe using that also. Now Walmart carries Swanson's Organic Vegetable broth as well, which is lower in sodium.

Directions

Empty 1 1/2 cup brown rice into your rice cooker (I use the small white 4 cup rice cooker by Salton). Fill the cooker to the 3 line with the chicken broth once you have added the rice and put the lid on. Push the lever down to turn it on--the red light should come on. It takes approx. 45 minutes and when it is done the lever will pop up and the light will go off.

Serving Size: Makes 6 (1/2 cup) servings
