    3 tbsp olive oil
    2 large ripe tomatoes, cubed
    4 Cloves garlic, minced
    1 bay leaf
    2 (15-oz) cans garbanzo beans
    (chickpeas) rinesd and drained
    3/4 chiken broth
    1 lb. pork sausage, cut into 1-inch sices


1. Heat oil in large, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add tomates and garlic; cook about 10 mintes, strirring occaionally. Add bay leaf, garbonzos, chicken broth and sasuage. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover pan; simmer about 20 minutes until sauage is longer pink. Add salt and peper to taste
2. Using the back of a spoon, mash some of the garbanzos against sides of saucepan to thicken stew. Remove and discard bay leaf.
