    16 oz. whole wheat spaghetti
    2-3 strips bacon, or 6 oz pancetta
    1 cup grated parmesan
    1 T olive oil


Dice bacon/pancetta. Add olive oil to frying pan. Cook bacon until crisp. Cook spaghetti until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the cooking water before draining the spaghetti. Toss bacon (complete with fat) into spaghetti. Use the heat of the spaghetti to melt the cheese and use about 1/4 cup of reserved pasta water to help combine the ingredients even more. You'll have six servings of a very flavorful, albeit rich dinner.

  • I made this according to the recipe without adding additional ingredients. My family did not like it at all. It was extremely bland and needed seasoning and/or other ingredients. Would not recommend. - 6/16/08

  • saute onions, celery, add to bacon. Chop spinach and add and add chopped tomatoes at the end. Whenever possible add veggies..... and it is now bacon and tomatoe spagetti - 5/29/08

  • My family loved this recipe. I did add spinach, water crest nuts, tomatoes and some crushed red pepper flakes and it turned out to be my husband's favorite meal! - 5/19/08
