Introduction

"Nothing beat Grandma's freshly baked biscuits: "Nothing beat Grandma's freshly baked biscuits:
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tbsp baking powder
    1 tbsp granulated sugar
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1 (3 ounces) package cream cheese
    1/4 cup vegetable shortening
    1/2 cup finely chopped onion
    2/3 cup milk

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 450 F. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in medium bowl

2. Cut cream cheese and shortening into flour mixture with pastry blenders or two knives just until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in chopped onions.

3. Make well in center of flour mixture. Add milk; stir until mixture forms soft dough that clings together and forms a ball.

4. Turn out dough ball onto well floured work surface. Knead the dough gently 10-12 times.

5. Gently roll or pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out dough with lightly floured 3 inch round biscuit cutter.

6. Place dough rounds about 2 inches apart on large ungreased baking sheet. Bake until tops and bottoms are golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Serve warm with sausage links and freash fruit, if desired.
