    1 lb. ground beef lean
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    3 tbsp. brown long grain rice uncooked
    1 can tomato soup
    1 can water
    1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
    1 green bell pepper chopped (optional)
    3 c. (small head) coarsely chopped cabbage


Cook beef until lightly brown and crumbly. Add onions, salt, black pepper and rice; cook 3 minutes. Add soup, water tomato sauce. Mix thoroughly. Remove from heat. Spoon cabbage and green pepper into 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Pour meat mixture on top. Cover with foil. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 325.

  • Delicious! I scooped out a lot of the hamburger fat after browning it bcuz I just didn't feel right about leaving it all in there, but it still tasted great. - 9/19/17
