Introduction

Forget fancy spices--four ingredients are all you need to make this deliciously simple supper. Forget fancy spices--four ingredients are all you need to make this deliciously simple supper.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

1/4 cup pure maple syrup (NOT pancake syrup!) or honey
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    2-3 cloves minced garlic
12 ounces fresh or thawed salmon

Tips

I usually go for the more complicated recipes, assuming that the more ingredients and preparation steps, the better. Not after trying this recipe!

Directions

Combine the first 3 ingredients in a gallon-size ziploc bag, shake it up, and then add the salmon. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for an hour, turning after half an hour. Pour the salmon and the marinade into a baking dish and bake in a 350 degree oven, covered with foil, for 15 minutes. The salmon is done when it flakes easily at the thickest part. Enjoy! Makes (4) 3 ounce servings.

Had this tonight and it was delicious! I used low-sodium soy sauce, wrapped the fish in a sealed foil packet, and used the juice on reheated, leftover brown rice. Fabulous with fresh broccoli. Thanks for sharing this! - 12/28/10

Absolutely Delish! We fixed it with the Maple Syrup and as written. It reminds me of the Bourbon Chicken you get at the malls. I'm going to try it with Chicken and see how it turns out. I've been sarching for a recipe that would mimick the Bourbon Chicken at the mall...this might do it! - 8/13/10

Good recipe. The only issue I had was that prep time showe five minutes and is supposed to marinate one hour. If you didn't read directions first would leave you pressed for time on weeknight. - 3/18/12

This is the only salmon I will ever fix again! Next time, I'm going to marinate it in half of the marinade and grill it. I will baste it with the rest of the sauce. We served it with wild rice; perfect compliment! - 1/2/11

My little brother DOES NOT eat fish and he saw me eating this for lunch. Said it smelled good. I told him it had maple syrup, soy sauce and garlic in it... three things he likes. He actually TRIED the fish and thought it was good. Unbelievable. The recipe so tasty and satiates a sweet tooth too, lol - 5/29/10

  • This is very similar to my recipe, except I add 1/2 cup orange juice, and a few drops of sesame oil to the marinade. I let it marinade for a few hours. I don't seal my salmon in foil I like it bronzed or charred on grill, or in a 400 degree oven until done 15-20 min. depending on thickness. - 1/18/17

  • I should have cut the soy sauce in half. I found it to salty. The easiest and best salmon I make just uses a couple of tablespoons for frozen (thawed) lemonade concentrate spread over the salmon before broiling it in the oven. It gives it a sweet tangy taste. - 11/6/16

  • I've been making this version of "Maple Salmon" for years and my family does not like it any other way now. The longer you marinate, the better the flavor salmon. I suggest marinating it in the morning, and put it in the fridge until you're ready to GRILL it in the evening (grill has better flavor). - 12/22/14
