Ingredients

    100 grams Ground beef, lean
    100 grams Ground Pork
    6 serving Filo pastry ( 1 serve = 1 sheet) (by OFEDEOZ)
    1 tbsp Canola Oil
    1 large Onions, raw
    4 clove Garlic
    1 cup Chicken stock, home-prepared
    1 grams Carrots, raw
    2 tsp Paprika
    1 tsp Cumin seed
    .3 tsp Cinnamon, ground
    37 grams Butter, salted
    1 small Egg, fresh, whole, raw

Tips

You can increase the size of the Burek to fit larger baking dish, by increasing the ingredients accordingly allowing 1/4 cup of mixture per filo sheet.
The filling can be made in advance and frozen. The whole process can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to be baked next day.


Directions

Prepare filling by lightly frying onions in canola, then add mince, fry, breaking up the lumps, but do not over fry as it will then be dry. Add crushed garlic, cumin and cinnamon and 1 cup chicken stock. Cook carrot separately, mash, and then add to meat mixture. Allow to cool before filling the filo.

Grease a 8" round dish and line with baking paper.
Melt the butter
Place 6 slices of filo on tray and cover with very lightly dampened
cloth. Take one piece and lightly brush both sides with butter. With lognest side facing you, take 1/4 cup of meat mixtures and spread in a thin line, 1" in from each side and front. Roll filo over mixture and tuck in the sides to contain meat, roll to a long sausage shape. Take this roll to the prepared dish and lay it around the edge. Repeat with the remaining 5 filo sheets, overlapping the "sausage" to fit dish and ending with the last roll in the centre, the dish fully filled. Brush top with egg yolk.
Bake in a hot oven aprox 30 minutes. Allow to stand in a warm place for about 10 minutes and cut into 6 wedges.
