Ingredients

1.5 cup Split Peas
4 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
1 dash Salt
3 tbsp Butter, unsalted
1 tsp Cumin seed
1 tsp Turmeric, ground
1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
0.25 tsp Cayenne Pepper (Ground)
.5 tsp Ginger, ground
1 tsp Coriander seed
.5 tsp Mustard seed, yellow
1 clove Garlic
3 tsp Lemon Juice 'Real Lemon' 100% juice
.25 tsp Hot Pepper Sauce
Tips
You can use split green peas, and lentils as well. The cooking time of the peas may vary, depending on how dry they are.
Directions
Cook the split peas until they are tender. Drain and set aside.
Melt the butter in a sauce pan. Add all the spices and herbs. On low, let the spices and herbs sizzle for just a couple minutes. Take it off the heat, and carefully add the cooked split peas. With a stick blender, blend them. Add the lemon juice and hot sauce. Stir and let the dahl blend its flavours.
Serve with rice, and your favourite side dishes.
