    1 cup water
    1/2 cup rice
    1 cabbage head ( 2 leaves per serving)
    2 Tbls olive oil
    1 Lb ground turkey
    1/3 cup chopped onion (or more to taste)
    1 egg, beaten
    1 (8 oz can) tomato sauce
    1 Tbl fresh ground pepper
    salt if using - to taste
    SAUCE ( double receipe if freezing or serving with mashed potatoes, etc.)
    1 (8 oz can) tomato sauce
    4 oz (2/3 6 oz can) tomato paste
    1 cup water
    3 Tbls packed brown sugar
    1 Tbls lemon juice
    1.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce

    2 - 3 cups baby carrots, sliced lenthwise


Make rice in one pot and par boil cabbage in another large pot. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spritz or butter a 9 x 13 casserole dish.

Heal oil in skillet over mediu heat and cook turnkey and onion and 1/2 pepper until the turkey is brown and the onion is tender. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Then, mix in the cooked rice, egg, 1 can of tomato sauce and the rest of the pepper.

Using separate bowl, mix together 1 can tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, borwn sugar, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce.

Scatter the carrot slices evenly over the bottom of the casserole dish.
Spread the cabbagte leaves on a flat survace and place 2-3 tablespoon of the turkey mixture in the center of each leaf (amount will depend on size of your leaves).
Fold the edges of the leaves over the filling, the roll into logs from the base to the top of the leave so that the leaf top closes up tight.
Place the rolls seam side down in the dish on top of the carrots. Our all the sauce evenly over the rolls.
COVER and bake 1 hour in preheated oven. Remove cover and cook another 10 minutes . Allow to sit 5 minutes before serving.

Serving size = 2 rolls + sauce. Most cabbages will give at least 14 good size leaves while huge ones will give up to 20. This recipe will work for up to 18 leaves with 2 tablespoon of stuffing and thereby reducing the calories, fat, etc.
