Introduction

My husband's favorite; I used leftover ham from Christmas dinner to make this soup. My husband's favorite; I used leftover ham from Christmas dinner to make this soup.

Ingredients

    8 cup Water
    16 oz peas, split, dried, 1 pound
    4 cup diced cooked ham
    1/2 cup, chopped Onions
    1 tsp kosher salt
    1/4 tsp Pepper, black
    1 1/2 cup, chopped Carrots, raw
    1 cup, diced Celery, raw

Tips

I like to sprinkle some hot sauce on top of my bowl of soup and stir it in.


Directions

Heat water and peas in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil. Boil 2 minutes; remove from heat and cover. Let stand 1 hour.

Stir onion, salt, and pepper into peas. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until peas are tender, about 1 hour.

Stir ham, carrots, and celery into soup. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes.

Serving Size: 1 cup (8 oz)
