Introduction

To use in place of canned cream soups in casseroles or as a base for
your own soups. It is much lower in fat and salt than the canned versions. The trick is to have it made up ready to use.
*Note* For my bouillon cubes, 1/2 cube = 1 tsp. bouillon granules. 12 tsp. =1/4 cup

Same recipe I use, but I add dehydrated mushrooms for cream of mushroom (use beef bullion for this one). - 7/26/11

Thanks for sharing. I passed this recipe along to my sister-in-law who is allergic to yeast, and oddly there is a lot of yeast in most canned soups. She said this recipe rocked! - 1/17/11

since I'm on a low sodium diet I omitted the bullion and it still tastes GREAT! I use with veggies & rice makes a nice sauce -- also have used to replace cream of soup in recipes and it's worked great. thanks so much for sharing!! - 8/28/10

So much better than the cans! I used this to make the Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie recipe here on Spark and it came out great! I didn't have any vegetable bullion so I used chicken. - 2/1/10

I gave this out to my weight loss group and challenged them to bring a dish to share next week using it. I used it in my quick Cheesey Potato broccoli soup. - 9/17/09

I mixed some up with chicken broth powder instead of vegetable since that is what I had. I used it in a casserole and it was great! - 11/20/08

I made this up and have used it twice now and it is really good! I used it in some enchiladas one night and then used it for a casserole. Couldn't tell the difference, I just chopped up some canned mushrooms and used it that way! Great recipe! Thanks 4 sharing. :) - 9/17/08

I even bought the dehydrated mushrooms from Sam's and used them. They worked fine! I think they are cheaper for this recipe than using canned.

Thanks so much! For those of us who can't have gluten, most canned soups and creamed items are off limits due to added MSG and modified food starch. This is a great little mix to have on hand. Hint: spices can be varied or left out and added at the last minute as desired. - 8/24/08

I am so glad your posted this! I use my crock pot several times a week during the winter with many recipes calling for canned soups. I'm going to mix this up and try it as a substitute in the crockpot. - 8/24/08

I haven't tried it yet...but I will! I love soup and make a lot of my own healthy soups, but avoid 'cream of' soups because I don't want to add the canned stuff to my recipes. Thanks! - 8/22/08
