    1 cup whole wheat flour
    4 tsp baking powder
    1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 cup sugar
    1/3 cup flax meal
    2/3 cup oat bran
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups plus 2 T 2% milk
    2 T butter, melted

    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup sugar
    3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    2 tsp granular instant coffee
    1 cup water


Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 9x13 baking pan.
Sift together flour, baking powder, cocoa, salt, and sugar. Stir in flax meal and oat bran. Mix well. Add milk, vanilla, and melted butter, and beat until smooth. Pour into pan. Set aside while fixing topping.
In a small heavy saucepan, combine all topping ingredients. Stir over medium high heat until the sugars melt and the mixture comes to a full boil. Gently ladle the boiling mixture all over the cake batter. Bake for 33 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes before cutting and serving. Serve warm with ice cream or milk. Makes 12 servings.
