    14 ounce pkg froze broccoli
    1 small onion (about 1 cup, chopped)
    3 C chicken broth
    1 T dried parsley flakes
    3/4 C fat free 1/2 & 1/2
    1/2 cup 2% milk
    1 T cornstarch
    1 1/2 t salt
    1/8 t cayenne pepper
    1 t garlic powder
    1 cup small fresh broccoli florets
    1 T lemon juice


Put frozen borccoli, onion, chicken broth and parsley in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes. Stir together 1/2 & 1/2, milk, and corstarch until smooth. Puree hot cooked mixture in blender. Return to pan. Stir in 1/2 & 1/2 mixture, salt, cayenne, garlic and broccoli florets. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook 15 minutes. Taste and correct seasonings, if necessary. Makes 6 1 1/2 Cup Servings. Squeeze Lemon juice on soup before serving.
