Introduction
This granola is a great base recipe that you can add to to make it your own. It is fortified with wheat germ but still tastes great. You'll see from my measurements I approximate a lot of it and it still turns out great. (add honey, vanilla and apple sauce to taste- I like mine on the sweeter side) This granola is a great base recipe that you can add to to make it your own. Ingredients
-
5 1/4 c. Oats (traditional NOT quick) (This is just a whole 42 oz. tub of oats)
2 c. Bran cereal (I like Fiber One) (I use about half the box)
11/2 c. Wheat Germ
1c. Sliced Almonds
2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
3/4 c. Apple Sauce
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together the oats, bran cereal, wheat germ, almonds, cinnamon.
In a separate pan whisk together the apple sauce, honey, vanilla and heat on medium until the mixture becomes thin (just before it starts to boil). Pour the wet ingredients over the dry, and mix until evenly blended. Spread on 2 cookie sheets
Bake for 35-40 hour in the preheated oven, checking every 10 minutes, or until toasted. Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Makes 18-20 1/2 cup servings.
Number of Servings: 20
