Introduction

Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    Water, warm, 18 tablespoons
    1 pkg active yeast
    Whole Wheat Flour, 2 3/4 cups
    Salt, 1/2 tsp
    Granulated Sugar 1/3 cup
    Canola Oil, 1/4 cup
    Egg, fresh, 1 large

Directions

First place warm water, sugar and yeast in the machine. Let sit for 8 minutes or until it foams. Then place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Basic Bread cycle and if you can choose how dark or light choose light setting; press Start.

When the dough has raised once and second cycle of kneading begins, turn machine off. Reset by pressing Start once again. This gives the dough two full raising cycles before the final raising cycle prior to baking.

Serves at least 12

    It makes great rolls too! Let rise once in machine, Divide dough into 12 pieces, roll into balls and let rise on cookie sheets. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder, bake for 15 minutes at 350 Makes a great sandwich bun. - 1/29/10

    The flavor, light texture and thin crust of this bread is awesome!! I accidentally overlooked the first two sentences and didn't pre-mix. I just put the water, sugar, egg, salt, and oil in the machine and then put the flour and yeast on top. I did stop the machine and start over as instructed. - 7/18/09
