Ingredients

    Cake:
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup Crisco shortening
    4 large eggs
    3/4 cup 1% milk
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    2 cups all purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

    Frosting:
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    3 cups powdered sugar
    3 tablespoons cocoa powder
    3-4 tablespoons milk

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 cake pan. Beat sugar and shortening in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in eggs, milk and vanilla until well blended. Combine flour and baking powder in a medium bowl, mix well. Add flour to shortening mixture; beat until combine.

2. Reserve about 1 cup of batter. Pour remaining in cake pan. Add cocoa powder to reserved batter and stir well. Drop over batter in pan. Run a butter knife through the batter to swirl the two colors together.

3. Bake cake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, around 25-30 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. If so desired, remove from pan and place on rectangular serving dish.

While the cake cools completely, take this time to make the frosting.

In a bowl, cream butter. Add powdered sugar and cocoa. Add just enough milk to make frosting to the consistency you like.

When cake is completely cooled, spread the frosting on top and sides if you took it out of the pan.

Makes 16-20 pieces depending on how big you cut it. The values are for 20 pieces.
