    1/2 cup butter
    1/3cup brown sugar
    1 egg, beaten, at room temperature
    1/2 cup molasses
    1/3 cup hot coffee
    1-1/2 cups flour
    1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoons cinnamon


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13-inch by 9-inch baking pan and line it with waxed paper or parchment paper. Cream shortening and sugar; stir in egg, molasses, and coffee. In other bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon; add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes. Makes 24 servings
