Number of Servings: 6

    1 lb dried pinto beans
    8 cups water
    1 medium onion chopped
    1/4 tsp Season All
1 Tbsp Garlic Powder (or less)
1 Tbsp Chili Powder (or less)
    2 Tbsp Country Crock margarine
1/2 lb pure white ground turkey

Rinse dried beans and put in pot with 8 or more cups of water. Bring to a boil; turn heat down to a soft boil and cook until tender. In meantime, brown ground turkey in skillet with season all, garlic powder and a little chili powder. Add onions, browned ground turkey and seasonings when start to tenderize. Adding salt (Season All) too early wiil delay beans becoming tender. Will have to add more hot water periodically.

Serve along or with rice or cornbread. Each serving is 1 to 1 1/2 cups.

  • Yummy. Just made it. I used canned pinto beans so they didn't need to be softened. Only used about 4 cups of water then poured most of it out. Then I love tomatoes so I added stewed diced tomatoes to it. Serving with rice. (Emptying my pantry, can you tell?) Thanks for the idea. - 11/16/10
