Introduction

This is a great, easy chili recipe that is very low in calories and fat! I use deer meat in this recipe, rather than beef, to lower the fat grams. Could also use ground chicken or turkey . Ingredients

    1.5 lb ground deer meat
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 green pepper, seeded & chopped
    14 oz can red kidney beans, drained
    14 oz can red beans, drained
    28 oz can diced tomatoes (sodium-free)
    2 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp cumin
    1 tsp cayenne pepper
    1 tsp onion powder
    1 tsp oregano
    0.5 tsp salt
    0.5 tsp black pepper
    2 cups water (or as needed)

Directions

1. Brown deer meat in large pot with onion, garlic, and green pepper. Once fully cooked, drain off any excess oil.
2. Add all spices and beans. Stir together and cooked 1 minute.
3. Add tomatoes & water and bring to a boil.
4. Lower heat & simmer on low for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Makes approximately 8 1-cup servings.
You can lower the sodium by omitting the salt. You could easily make it vegetarian by omitting the meat and adding more veggies, such as mushrooms and red onion.
