This is an old fashioned recipe. Most people don't use Crisco any more, but this was for a special project that needed many doz. of cookies. It is surprising that one cookie is only 112 calories. Ingredients


    *Shortening, Crisco, 12 tbsp (3/4 cup)
    Brown Sugar, 1 1/4 cup, packed
    Milk, nonfat, 2 tbs
    Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
    Egg, fresh, 1 large
    *Flour, white, 1 3/4 cup
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Baking Soda, 3/4 tsp
    Semisweet chocolate, 1 cup chips (6 oz package)


Directions

Combine shortening, sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Mix until well blended. Add egg and mix well. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix well. Add to shortening/sugar mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. Makes 3 doz. 2 to 2 1/2 inch cookies.
NOTE: It helps to reserve about 1/2 cup of the flour for mixing with the chips and then stiring both in at the end. The chips seem to mix in better.
