Introduction

Take your brownies to a new level with a chewy caramel center. Serious sweets lovers only--these are not for the faint of heart! Take your brownies to a new level with a chewy caramel center. Serious sweets lovers only--these are not for the faint of heart!
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    1/3 cup + 1 tbsp canola oil
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tbsp vanilla
    1/3 cup cocoa powder
    Pinch salt
    1/3 cup flour
    1/4 cup barley flour
    8 vanilla chewy caramel candies, cut in half horizontally.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a 9" pan.

Mix oil and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla, beating well.

Sift in cocoa powder, followed by salt and flours.
Pour into prepared pan.

Place one half-caramel square on each sixteenth of the batter in the pan (4x4).

Bake 25 minutes. Chill completely before cutting and serving.
