    1 cup uncooked brown rice
    2 cans red kidney beans, drained
    1 pound ground round
    1 cup chopped onion

    Salt, pepper, garlic powder--use to season meat to taste.

    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1/4 tsp. oregano
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    2 1/2 cups water


Place meat and onion in non-stick skillet. Add seasonings and brown. Drain off any fat.

While meat is cooking, measure water into large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add rice and bring to a boil again. Add bens, tyme, oregano, and chili powder. When mixture reaches boiling temperature, reduce heat to simmer. Cook about 30 minutes or until rice is tender.

Delicious served with whole grain bread and a tossed salad.

This recipe could be cut in half very easily.
