    12 oz uncooked ziti
    1 tsp. olive oil
    2 med garlic cloves, minced
    1/3 ld. raw lean ground beef
    1 tsp dried thyme
    1 tsp dried rosemary
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    28 oz crushed tomatoes
    1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded


Preheat oven to 350* Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, heat oil in med saucepan; add garlic and saute 2 min. Add beef and cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks, about 3-5 min; drain off any fat and return to pan to heat. Add spices and stir. Cook about 2 min until herbs become fragrant. Add tomatoes and bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.
Spoon a small amount of tomato mixture into the bottom of a 4-quart casserole dish. Top with half of cooked Ziti, half of sauce, and half of cheese. Repeat. Back about 30 min until cheese is golden and bubbly. Yields about 8 1 cup servings.
