A quick pasta with a jar sauce, added in some tuna for extra protein. Makes 8 servings. A quick pasta with a jar sauce, added in some tuna for extra protein. Makes 8 servings.

    1 box Barilla Fiori Pasta
    1 jar mushroom pasta sauce
    2 cans White Albacore Tuna
    2 tbsp Olive Oil
    1 clove garlic
    2 tbsp Basil
    Other assorted herbs up to you!


Add 3-4 quarts water to a deep pot and let it boil. While water is boiling, mince the garlic and set aside.

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a sauce pan over low to medium heat. Once the olive oil warms up a little add the garlic and let it soften for a minute or two (keep a close eye on the garlic or it will burn). Then add the jar of pasta sauce. Stir! Reduce heat to low.

Water should be boiling by now, add the pasta and reduce the heat just a little bit. Set a timer for 8 minutes (7min if you prefer al dente). Stir occassionally.

Add the 2 cans of tuna to the pasta sauce, making sure all the tuna is broken up before you put it in (I bought the chunk starkist white albacore type and it needs to be broken up. Also, if you have a cat reserve the tuna liquid for the kitty. They LOVE it!) Stir and add the basil.

Finally drain the pasta and serve with sauce. Garnish with any herbs you like.
