    12-14 cups water
    2/3 cup dry red beans
    2/3 cup dry black beans
    2/3 cup dry baby lima beans
    2/3 cup dry white beans
    2/3 cup dry pinto beans
    1 onion, chopped
    1 1/2 cups chopped cooked ham
    5 chicken bouillon cubes
    1 tsp salt
    1/4-1/2 tsp pepper
    1/4-1/2 tsp thyme


Cut up onion and ham. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker on high and cook about 12 hours or so.(My slow cooker doesn't seal well so I start it before I go to bed and eat the next evening for dinner). Check soup in the morning to see if more water is needed. If so add a little more boiling water to the beans.
Makes about 12- 1 cup servings.

  • This looks like a good recipe, but you may have the nutritional information wrong. The information on the beans is for cooked beans, I would sugjest that one time, you soak the beans before cooking, and measure them. Then go to your recipe box and edit the recipe. - 1/22/09

    I wondered that myself, but couldn't find out how to change it. If you know how please let me know as I would like the correct info myself (that is actually my purpose in entering it here).
