Introduction
This is an old standard in Southern Cooking. This is one of my favorite comfort foods! The water, salt and margarine amounts will vary, depending on how much ou make, and how much you prefer. Ingredients
-
1 small head of cabbage sliced and diced (or half a large head)
5 or 6 medium potatoes sliced into bite sized pieces
4 (or to taste) Tbs margarine
salt to taste ( I like alot of salt in it personally)
You can also use red cabbage, but it kind of turns everything purple...interesting looks, but tastes pretty good. :D
Directions
put 12 cups or so of water in a large pot
cut up potates after washing in bite sized pieces (I don't usually peel them, but if you feel like it, go for it!)
and slice cabbage head into bite sized pieces or so.
add margarine, salt and simmer until both are soft!
