The use of Chinese Five Spice and vanilla really makes this a treat! The use of Chinese Five Spice and vanilla really makes this a treat!
Number of Servings: 4


    4 slices Whole Grain Bread.
    1 Whole Egg.
    3 Egg Whites.
    2 Tbsp Evaporated Skim Milk
    1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract.
    1/2 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice (found in the Oriental or Asian Food section in the grocery store) .


Heat a cast iron griddle until water dances on it. Or use a no-stick frying pan with a little cooking spray applied.

Beat the egg, egg whites, vanilla, and Chinese Five Spice in a flat dish (I use a pie plate). Dip the slices of bread in the mixture and cook on both sides til done.

I usually serve this with fruit (mashed or whole blueberries, strawberries, etc.) instead of the butter and syrup. Not included in the nutrition information.
