Ingredients
-
1/4 lb bacon (use low fat to reduce calories)
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb lean ground turkey
1 medium onion, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
2 tbsp garlic
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 cup ketchup (use low calorie)
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Directions
1. Cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove, drain on paper towels, crumble, set aside.
2. Add chopped onions to bacon grease and cook until golden brown. Remove and set aside. (I put onions in a strainer over a bowl to help remove some of the grease.)
3. Brown beef and turkey, remove and drain.
4. Mix all ingredients in a slow cooker along with the bacon, onion, and ground beef.
5. Cook for at least 8 hours on the lowest setting (times may vary based on slow cooker. I usually start it before I leave for work so it cooks for 10 hours.)
6. Enjoy!
