Number of Servings: 6


    1 large onion, chopped
    1 jalapeno pepper, diced
    1 1/2 cup (1 medium)green pepper,chopped
    2-4oz./113g mushrooms, canned pieces
    2 TBS. extra virgin olive oil
    1 TBS. cumin, ground
    1 tsp. cumin seeds, whole
    1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
    2 TBS. chili powder
    1/2 tsp.(2 leaves) bay leaf, crushed
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon, ground
    1/8 tsp. allspice, ground
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
    14 1/2 oz/411g diced tomatoes, canned
    28 oz/793g crushed tomatoes, canned
    16oz./454g bag cut okra, frozen
    1 pound lean ground beef


Makes 6 two cup servings.

Coo and drain ground beef and set aside.
Saute first five ingredients for about 5 minutes.
Add the next nine ingredients, mix well, and cook on medium low for 5 more minutes.
Add the next three ingredients, mix well to coat the okra in the sauce, and cook for 20 more minutes.
Add in cooked beef, and cook for at least 6o more minutes.
It may sound like a long time but that's what makes it thick and oh so tasty. Set timer to mix every so often.
