Introduction

This is my Grandmother's vegetable soup recipe. She usually makes a batch this size and then freezes quite a few portions to be able to just pull out and eat. You can definitely make less. It makes 22 portions of 1 cup. This is my Grandmother's vegetable soup recipe. She usually makes a batch this size and then freezes quite a few portions to be able to just pull out and eat. Ingredients

    2 pounds ground beef
    1 pound stew meat
    3 cups diced onion
    4-5 potatoes peeled and diced
    5-6 carrots peeled and sliced
    2 large cans Veg-All
    2 large cans Diced Tomatoes
    2 cans green beans
    1 can green peas
    1 can whole kernel corn
    1 bag cut okra
    Salt and pepper to taste
    Garlic salt to taste
    4 tbsp sugar

Directions

First things first, you need a BIG POT for this.
Start by browning the meat in the pot (drain fat) and add the diced onion. Add about a cup of water and let simmer for 1 hour. This really bring the juices and flavor going. Add the carrots and potatoes. Add enough water to cover. Let this simmer for 45 min to an hour, until carrots are fork tender. Add the rest of the ingredients and let simmer for at least 2 hours. This lets all the flavors mix together. This makes 22 (1 cup) servings ( I think). The longer you cook it the better. It is even better the second day. This is great with a piece of cornbread or a peanut butter sandwich.
