Ingredients

Pastry: 2 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 tbsp curry powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 c. solid shortening
    1/4 cup cold butter
    1/3 cup icy cold water

    Meat:
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 small white onion, chopped
1 tbsp or more garlic chopped
    2 tbsp curry powder
    dash paprika
    tsp allspice
    1 pound lean ground beef
    1 can corn
    1/4 breadcrumbs
    1/4 cup vegetable broth
    1/4 cup water
    1 egg beaten

Directions

Makes approx 10 patties, 1 patty per serving

Pastry:
Whisk flour, curry and salt in bowl and then place in bowl of food processor with metal blade. Add shortening and butter and pulse until crumbly. Add cold water and pulse until dough forms. Do not over-process. Either continue with recipe or wrap dough ball in plastic wrap until ready to use (take out 15 minutes early). Roll dough onto floured board to 1/8" thickness. Cut into circles.

Meat filling:
Heat olive oil in large pan -- add onions and brown slightly. Add garlic, curry powder, paprika, allspice. Stir and then add beef -- cook until beef is no longer pink. Add corn. Drain. Return to pan and mix with breadcrumbs and broth. Cook until most of the liquid is gone.

Heat oven to 400.

Place some of the filling on a pastry circle, fold over and crimp with fork. Place on baking sheet and brush with egg beaten with water. Repeat until pastry circles/beef is used.

Cook for 30-40 minutes until golden. Cool 10 minutes before serving.
