Introduction

I took an idea from cooking over the fire when we go camping and brought it indoors. I was also craving pizza but didn't want to order a whole pizza and this fit the bill. Ingredients

    2 Pieces of white bread
    2 Tablespoons of margarine
    1/4 Cup Pizza Sauce
    5 Turkey Pepperoni's
    1 Tbsp Mushrooms
    1/8 Cup of Mozzerella Cheese

Directions

Butter your bread like you woud if you were making a grilled cheese sandwhich. Put one piece of bread butter side down in a warm pan. Place 1/8 cup of pizza sauce on the bread, place your pepperonis on the sauce, then lay your mushrooms on there and then your cheese. Put your other 1/8 cup of sauce on top of that and then slap your other piece of bread on there butter side up. Let the one side grill and flip over when ready. Let the other side grill to your liking and then have a nice pizza sandwich.

Although this is low in calories for having pizza it is high in sodium and as I am still learning I am not sure how to make the sodium lower on this other than the bread, maybe trying a wheat or whole grain bread. However it was good for tonight and I am sure it will fill that pizza craving that I get once in a while.

Neat idea! I tried this when I was getting bored of the usual PB&J and running out of creative ideas for grilled cheese. A lot of your sodium will come from pre-prepared pizza sauce - you should be able to reduce it by making your own (which is really quick, cheap, and easy!) - 11/14/11
