Ingredients

- 3 cups navy beans
- 6 strips bacon
- 1 tps. Sea Salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper or to taste
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 Large Onion
- Water
Directions
- Cover beans with water 2 inches above in large bowl and let soak overnight or at least 6 hours
- Rinse in luke warm water thoroughly in collendar and drain.
- Line a bean pot or small roaster with bacon pieces (or mix pieces with the beans)
- Add drained beans, dry mustard, molasses, onion, pepper and salt.
- Pour in water to 1 inch on top of beans
- Bake in preheated 300 deg F. oven for4 to 5 hours until tender
- At half-time check for seasonings. if not sweet enough molasses can be added, salt beans and if needed, pour in a little water
- When beans are done, the water level should be below the beans, DO NOT add any water towards the end of cooking time so that beans remain tasteful.
