Introduction

A basic cornbread recipe. A basic cornbread recipe.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    1 cup flour
    1 cup cornmeal
    2 tablespoons sugar
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoons salt
    1 cup milk, nonfat
    1 egg plus 2 egg whites
    2 tablespoons oil
    2 tablespoons applesauce

Directions

Mix all ingredients together until well blended. Pour into a prepared glass or metal pan or a cast iron skillet....or you can divide into muffin tins if you prefer. Bake at 425 degrees until lightly browned....about 20-25 minutes depending on the size of the pan you chose.

Yields about 12 serving size pieces of cornbread.
