Introduction

A wonderful recipe to have on hand....wonderful pound cake made from common pantry ingredients. A wonderful recipe to have on hand....wonderful pound cake made from common pantry ingredients.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    2 sticks butter
    2 cups sugar
    4 large eggs
    3 cups (unbleached) flour
    1/2 teaspoons each: salt, baking soda, baking powder
    1 cup buttermilk (I make this myself with 1/4 cup lemon juice or vinegar and the rest milk)
    1 teaspoon lemon juice (If you didn't already use it)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Soften butter and cream with sugar. Add eggs and beat well. In two separate bowls, combine the dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder) and also combine the wet ingredients (buttermilk, vanilla). Add alternately to butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Continue until all ingredients are well mixed.

Bake for about 70 minutes at 350 degrees.
