Introduction

This stew is quick, easy and delicious, perfect for a winter day! This stew is quick, easy and delicious, perfect for a winter day!
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 Pound Beef Stew Meat
    2 cups baby new potatoes, skin on, cut up.
    1/2 large onion, chopped into large pieces
    1/4 cup flour
    3 tbsp. canola oil
    4 cups baby carrots
    1 packet McCormick Beef Stew Mix
    3 cups water
    1/2 cup Quaker Quick Barley
    garlic powder, salt & pepper to taste

Directions

Dredge the stew meat in flour, sprinkling generously with garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Brown floured-meat in the canola oil.

Put Browned Meat into a stew pot. Add water and stew seasoning. Bring to boil while you prepare the vegetables.

Chop new potatoes into halves or quarters, chop onion and carrots (if you desire smaller pieces than come in the pre-peeled packages). Add to meat and reduce to a simmer.

Simmer for 45 minutes.

Add barley. Continue simmering for 20-35 minutes.

Serve hot.

Makes 10 one-cup servings.
