Ingredients

FILLING
2 cans of cherries in water or light syrup
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of cornstarch
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. salt
TOPPING
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 stick of butter - room temperature
Directions
1. Pre-heat oven to 410 Fahrenheit.
2. In a large sauce pan empty the 2 cans of cherries do not turn on heat until you dissolve the cornstarch in the cherry liquid.
3. Allow the mixture to rise to a boil and then add 1 cup of sugar. Let boil until a thick pie like filling consistency.
4. Remove from heat and let cool for 20 min. then, add the 1 tsp. of almond extract.
5. Pour mixture into baking dish.
6. In a separate mixing bowl add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of flour, and salt, thoroughly mix.
8. Then add a stick of butter until it reaches a crumbly consistency. Add equals parts of the mixture to reach desired consistency if needed.
9. Put flour, butter, sugar mixture over the top of the cherries, and make sure the top is covered completely.
8. Bake for 30 minutes. Check to make sure the crust isn't burnt or until crust is golden brown.
