    1 small onion, chopped
    1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
    1 cup cubed cheddar cheese
    1 cup water
    1 796 mL can diced tomatoes
    1 cup bread crumbs
    1 tbsp butter/margarine


Dump all ingredients, except bread crumbs and butter into a well greased casserole dish. Stir well. Cover dish with lid/ foil wrap and bake at 350 for 1 hour. You can lift lid about halfway through and stir, but its not necessary.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add bread crumbs and cook, stirring until golden brown.
After casserole is baked for 1 hour, add bread crumbs to top, return to oven and broil for 3-5 minutes. Do not walk away from oven.
Makes 4 servings.
