This easy beef stew uses Guinness Stout and the crock pot. This easy beef stew uses Guinness Stout and the crock pot.
Number of Servings: 8


    2.5 lbs beef, cubed
    3 celery stalks, chopped
    3 medium potatoes, chopped
    3 carrots, chopped
    1 large onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp tomato paste
    16 oz Guinness Stout (beef broth can be combined or substituted)
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup butter, melted
    herbs and spices to taste
    salt and pepper to taste


Put beef, chopped vegetables, tomato paste, Guinness, herbs (I use basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, bay leaves, and parsley), and salt and pepper in crock pot. Cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.

When done cooking, melt the butter and mix with the flour, then mix into the stew to thicken. Cook uncovered on high for 20 to 30 minutes to increase thickness to your desire. Add herbs to taste.
