    Yams 250 gm
    Oil to deep-fry
    garlic(5-6 cloves)
    Chili powder 1tsp ( 2 tsp, for extra spicy)
    coriander seeds 1tbsp
    turmeric powder 1 tsp
    Salt to taste


Cut yam into big pieces and boil till tender.
Remove,drain and cut into medium-thick slices.
Heat sufficient oil in a wok and deep fry till golden and crisp.
Peel and wash garlic.
Grind together garlic, coriander seeds,turmeric and chili powder to a smooth paste using a little water.
Drain excess oil from the wok, leaving about 2 tablespoons.
Heat the oil. Add cumin seeds, when they begin to change color, add the paste.
Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes.
Remove, serve hot, sprinkled with coriander leaves.
