Introduction

While it is relatively high in calories (especially with the topping added. The topping has not been added in because it is up to the baker to determine the flavor), it's lower than most cakes. It does take a little work to make.

My family loves it because we're chocoholics, but it also looks neat when the sauce is dripping down over the sides, giving it a fountain effect. Our favorite is chocolate sauce, but you can add any topping you want or none at all. Your choice.

Ingredients

1.5 cup of sugar (Splenda can be substituted for lighter calories)
    3/4 egg substitute
    3/4 unsweetened applesauce
3/4 cup flour6 tbp unsweetened cocoa
    1.5 tsp vanilla extract
    dash of salt
    topping of your choice

Directions

Preheat oven to 325

Take 2 eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4c applesauce, 1/4 flour, 4tbs cocoa, 1/2 tsp vanilla and salt and mix it all together in a large mixing bowl. Take the reminder of the ingredients and mix them together in a smaller bowl. Mix everything thoroughly and pour into two greased pie pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until done. Cool.

Once it's cooled off a bit (you still want it to be slightly warm to help the topping melt better), set the smaller pie on top of the larger one.

Pour on topping of your choice and enjoy your fountain!
