Introduction

Ingredients

    1 1/2 lb tender stew meat
    1 large onion, chopped
    28 oz can diced tomatoes
    2 large carrots, sliced
    1 bay leaf
    3/4 head of cabbage, chopped
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Brown the beef meat with the onion, in a little water if needed. When the onion is tender, add the can of tomatoes, the barley and the bay leaf. Simmer for a half hour, and add the water, cabbage and carrots. Simmer til carrots are done and soup has thickened to your likeness, about another 1/2 hour to an hour.
