Home made root beer made much like sun tea. Home made root beer made much like sun tea.
Number of Servings: 16


    1 tsp dry yeast
    1 1/2 c sugar
    4 tsp root beer extract
    1 gallon water


Dissolve the yeast in a cup of warm water from that gallon. Add 1 1/2 c sugar and stir or shake in container until sugar is dissolved. Add the rest of the gallon of water, the four tsp of root beer extract and shake to mix. Cover gallon container tightly and set in sun for at least 4 hrs. The yeast may make the container bow and contort. Once the top is removed, that gas dissipates and won't be as bad for next uncapping. It should have a little fizz. Taste to your liking and then refrigerate when it's strong enough for you. Very easy and nice for a group. 74 cal/8oz glass.
