Introduction

East Indian Flatbread East Indian Flatbread
Number of Servings: 5

Ingredients

    1 cup whole wheat bread
    1/2 cup water

Directions

Place flour in a bowl. Add water slowly, mixing with fingers. When flour no longer sticks to bowl or fingers, knead a few mins and set aside for 10 mins.
Separate dough into 5 balls. Roll them out til about 4-5 in in diameter.
Spray a frying pan with cooking spray. Place on med heat and allow to get hot. Place one paratha in pan. It will darken in color a bit and puff up in areas. When you see this, turn it over and allow the other side to brown and puff. If pan is too hot, adjust heat down and then back up again before placing the next paratha in.
I make all 5 at once and place in resealable plastic bag and put in the fridge. You can also freeze them, I am told, or place unused dough in plastic and put in fridge for next meal it is to be used with.
From fridge, let the dough come to room temp. If you made the paratha already, heat in microwave 10 secs.
